A successful 2021 for Acpapp

DESPITE the challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Association of Certified Public
Accountants in Public Practice (Acpapp) was very successful in living its "Lead the Way: Recovery
through Transformation and Innovation" thrust this year. By going digital, the problem of not
being able to do programs physically was answered, making it possible for the Acpapp to continue
serving its purpose.
The year started with the induction of both Acpapp and Acpapp Foundation Inc. officers on Jan.
28, 2021. All general membership meetings held gave out a total of nine CPD credit units to 935
participants, while the 1,470 attendees of 19 chapter webinars received 13.5 CPD credit units.
The Acpapp also conducted courtesy visits to organizations such as the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas,
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the PRC-Board of Accountancy.
At the peak of the fiscal year, the Acpapp celebrated Accountancy Week with the theme "Spotlight
on Public Practice" on July 13, 2021, which gathered a total of 774 delegates, and conducted the
"Delivering Impactful Presentations to Client Virtually," and "Are you Ready for IQSM Standards?
Point of View of the Regulators" webinars that gave three CPD credit units.
On October 6 to 8, the 21st Annual National Convention was held, which gave an accumulated 10.5
CPD credit units to 992 participating individuals. One of the convention's highlights was the 2021
Lifetime Achievement Award for 2012 Acpapp President Eranio Punsalan. The Acpapp then welcomed the
Rizal chapter as the newest addition to the association of nearly 1,000 members. The latter received
a total of 70 news and 35 publications for this year and members were also given the chance to
contribute to The Manila Times.
The Acpapp academy, meanwhile, was launched on July 13 and successfully conducted IQSM workshops for
five batches or a total of 159 graduates. To give back to the community, the Acpapp simultaneously
supported advocacies like donating to the victims of Tropical Storm "Maring" to CBN Asia, the "Ayuda
sa Eskwela sa Panahon ng Pandemya" conducted by the Southern Mindanao chapter, bond paper donations
by the Batangas and Laguna chapters, back-to-school gift-giving to cancer warriors with the Open Arms
Group and bread donations to indigents in Calumpit, Bulacan.
The Anti-Money Laundering Council, during its 20th year anniversary on Oct. 19, 2021, awarded the
Acpapp for its help and support. Recognition was also given by the SEC on Nov. 12, 2021 for the Acpapp's
invaluable support of the regulator's initiatives.
The challenges posed by Covid-19 added fuel to the Acpapp's burning desire to bring quality service
to its members. May the coming year be more successful, equipped with a transformed leadership and
innovative programs. Hats off to this year's president, Wilfredo Baltazar, and the rest of the Acpapp
board. Mabuhay ang (long live) Acpapp!
